At Dr Usal Cosmetic Surgery, we utilize AirXpanders® AeroForm technology, which offers women the unique ability to self-inflate the expander using a wireless device in the comfort and discretion of their own home. AeroForm technology has revolutionized breast reconstruction for thousands of women, offering an improved quality of life after mastectomy surgery using state-of-the-art technology.
Breast reconstructive surgery is an inpatient hospital surgery that typically takes a few hours and is performed after the mastectomy.
Risks include excess bleeding, fluid collection, infection and excess scar tissue. Patients also risk having an allergic reaction to the anesthesia and medication used during and after the procedure.
There are continued risks after the implants are in place that will be discussed with you ahead of your surgery. If the implants shift or leak, for example, they may have to be removed.
What about after surgery?
Some women experience a complete loss of sensation in their breasts after surgery while others only lose partial feeling.
